Daniel Federspiel wins the Austrian national championship in cross-country cycling in Styria for Team Vorarlberg Santic!

The 59th Austrian national championship in cyclo cross in Gutenberg (Styria) was dominated by Daniel Federspiel. With the best weather conditions, the two-time MTB Eliminator World Champion more than clearly dominated the competition. On the circuit, which was not technically easy to drive, he shone with his technical ability and won the first national championship title in this discipline. After 62 minutes he wins ahead of Philipp Heigl (AUT) and Fabian Costa (AUT).

It was Federspiel’s third win in the past six days. On January 6th he won the Cyclo Cross in St. Pölten (AUT). Yesterday he won the final of the ÖRV Schwalbe Cup in Styria.

Daniel Federspiel:I have driven my pace from the start and this always tries to increase a little. So I kept my pursuers at a distance of almost three minutes. I’m really happy about this first title and just like cycling again after the difficult last year. A great start to this season! “

Dear partners, sponsors!

It was a great year 2019 for the Vorarlberg Santic team – without exaggerating the most successful in the team’s 21-year history.

We are grateful for a lot of what we were able to experience, and above all grateful for the numerous support from many sides to be able to do cycling in this form.

Many and sporting thanks to all partners, sponsors, press and media representatives for the cooperation in this year!

We wish you a happy and blessed Christmas and a good transition to the new cycling year 2020!

It has been worked in the last few days again a lot in the team. With 17 professionals in the squad, we take on the new season as biggest team in the Continental league for 2020 season.

New in the team three strong riders!

Alexis Guerin (27) from France, an absolute performer from the Pro Continental category joins the Vorarlberg team. In the season 2019 he works for Team Delko Marseille.

In addition, Canadian Jack Burke (24) should play a major role for next season. He is really strong in the mountains at longer climbs.

They are supported in 2020 by the young Luxembourg Raphael Kockelmann (20).

Alexis Guerin (FRA / 27 Jahre):  “I am very happy to be part of Team Vorarlberg Santic 2020. For me, it’s an advance in my career! I come with a lot of motivation and big goals. We have a good team, excellent material and very professional staff. Now I just want to race fast. ”

Jack Burke (CAN / 24 Jahre): “This season I invested a lot in my career, getting used to life and racing in Europe and becoming a more versatile rider. I am confident and feel comfortable especially in the difficult races which we will be riding in 2020. I look forward to contributing my experience and strengths to the team. Vorarlberg Santic offers me all the possibilities!“

With these three riders the team roster is complete. The motivation is still high in the knowledge that each year starts again and the cards are shuffled. The professionals are now preparing for these tasks in the coming weeks. The start of the racing season is already starting very prominently with a Pro Series race, the nine-day tour Tour of Hainan in China.

The team Vorarlberg Santic wishes a sporty and contemplative Christmas time!

Claudio Imhof (SUI), Joeri Stallaert (BEL), Felix Meo (NZL) and Johannes Schinnagel (GER) are switching to Team Vorarlberg Santic!

Earlier this week, the annual team come together took place for the upcoming season. The squad  was guest at the partner hotel on Badersee in Grainau at the foot of the Zugspitze (the highest mountain from germany). The focus was on the internal planning process, some race planning details, as well as numerous discussions between the athletes, Staff and the material partners present who presented their product innovations and improvements in an impressive manner.

“Team Spirit towards 2020 was more than noticeable on these very varied days. The team management and all team members agreed in unison that they have a very broad, strong squad at the start. Now it is eager and serious to continue working over the winter. Then we can hope for a similarly successful season as 2019.“

Thomas Kofler – Team Manager

Team 2020 continues to take shape – new, well-known riders back in the squad!

In addition to the ten already announced riders (we informed last week), two riders come first to the team, which had already overstretched the jersey in previous years. Claudio Imhof SUI / 29 years (in 2012 in the Team) from Switzerland and Joeri Stallaert BEL / 28 jears (2018).  Two riders with great experience and quality on classic terrain, sprint and individual time trials. Imhof is in the Olympic squad of Tokyo!

Besides the returnees, the strong German allrounder Johannes Schinnagel / 23 years and the young New Zealander Felix Meo / 22 years are new. These two riders also have great potential and the team is happy about the commitment.

The currently 14 man squad will be expanded again to serve the second race program optimally. This is a clear sign in terms of promotion of young talent at Team Vorarlberg Santic, so that continuous further development is possible.

Team Vorarlberg Santic is working on the new Team for 2020 – nine riders stay with the Team, Linus Stari (AUT) gives his professional Debut!

Nine riders from the past successful year are extending their contracts for 2020. Above all, the top performers around Roland Thalmann (SUI), Colin Stüssi (SUI), Lukas Meiler (GER), Davide Orrico (ITA), Maximilian Kuen and Daniel Geismayr (both AUT).

They will continue to receive full support from two-time MTB Eliminator World Champion Daniel Federspiel (AUT), as well as youngsters Dominik Amann (AUT) and Martin Meiler (GER).

New on board is the young and strong climber Linus Stari (21/AUT). Especially in the past year he showed himself very strong in cycling marathons and could ride there with the best over the mountains. He is happy to be part of the team, and to learn a lot from the pros in his own ranks!

Roland Thalmann: “In the 2020 season, I want to play an important role as a performer in the heavy and big races. I am happy to be able to celebrate together with the existing as well as new riders together and again as a team! ”

Colin Stüssi’s tenor on next year: “I am convinced that we can continue this season after this successful year, and we would like to take another step forward in terms of performance.”

Ten riders are thus fixed for the upcoming season. In the coming days, more signatures will be added to new riders contracts, which we will inform you about.

2019: The most successful year for the Team Vorarlberg Santic

It was already very first cream what the Team Vorarlberg Santic conjured up as a Continental team on the asphalt. Especially in the fight against the big World Tour and Pro Continental teams, there were some sporting exclamation marks!

Not only the fact that you could fix seven UCI victories, witnessed a great development of the whole team. Especially how these successes where driven home was very impressive – AND planned.

The sports management has extended the preparatory phase compared to the previous years and thus created basis for a broader basis. It was an attempt which was successfully in May. From that time until the end of the Season at Paris-Bourges in October, the team was able to convince nationally and internationally with a high degree of consistency. With well over 100 race days, was Austria (nicht österrreich sondern in österrreich oder?)  no only the benchmark in terms of girth, but above all it the unruly Team Spirit and offered the competition its brains. With well over 100 race days, the Austrian team was not only the benchmark in terms of size, they also felt the unruly team spirit and stood up to the competition.

Tour victory and a terrific 71. Int. Tour of Austria!
A certain time passed after a last overal success in a stage race. The German rider Jannik Steimle won the Int. Oberösterreich Tour. This firework display was extended with two stage wins at the 71. Int. Tour of Austria. And yes, we also wore the leader jersey of the tour. The team was sensationally second in the team ranking behind Dimension Data. Before the World Tour Team CCC and Movistar.

It was just fun ….
… to work with this team in 2019. What causes such a strong season balance? The other´s joy, the other´s suffering. Especially on the top performance of the team large teams were aware. Especially the top performers of the team attracted the attention of big teams. Jannik Steimle, the 23-year-old vertical starter even made the direct jump to one of the best team in the world – to Deceunick-Quick Step to Belgium. Finally it has also been enough got Patrick Schelling (29) in the World Tour. After his fourth year in Team Vorarlberg Santic, the strong rider joins the Isreael Cycling Academy in 2020. And the young Spaniard Jose Manuel Diaz Gallego (24) will also leave the team for the next higher category (to Delko Marseille).

In general, one can note the most successful season form the Team Vorarlberg Santic in this 21-year history. The result of a very strong team spirit and a professional work behind the scenes.

Management and press service Team Vorarlberg Santic

The best comes to the end often – so the cast of the 69th Paris – Bourges yesterday. World Champion Bronzen Stefan Küng (SUI – Groupama FDJ), Tony Gallopin (FRA – AG2R), Niki Terpstra (NED – Total Energy), all want the win over the 193.5 kilometer race.

The high-caliber leading group was provided by the follow-up work, in which the Team Vorarlberg Santic played a major role. That was not the plan for the sprint, so Thalmann and Co. are trying hard to jump off.

Stüssi sniffs again on the podium in the last race!

There are about 60 professionals to mass sprint in Bourges. Winner of fast Frenchman Marc Sarreau (Groupama FDJ) ahead of Tom van Asbroeck (Israel Cycling) and Amaury Capiot (Vlaanderen Baloise) – and in fifth place ??? Almost unbelievable Colin Stüssi – the young Swiss sprints by the hair on the podium!

“An incredibly great finish to a super strong 2019 season. It’s been clear all season that we can ride in the front in most races. If it still works with such well-stocked races at the end of the season, then this is a quality statement for our squad. This result is very rewarding for Colin, as he has often been in the work of the team all season! ” Team Manager Thomas Kofler

A look back!

A worthy conclusion to a successful season for Team Vorarlberg Santic. A look into the rearview mirror of the 2019 season follows in the near future. Now it’s time to go home and plan for 2020 – we’ll report!

Colin Stüssi after a strong race in France with UCI Points!

Stephan Rabitsch from Team Felbermayr Wels wins the circuit race in Klein Engersdorf. Already in second place Team Vorarlberg Santic professional Maximilian Kuen. He rides a great race with a big effort in the final.

Team Vorarlberg Santic just over the team title!

In the team standings, they placed just behind Maloja Pushbikers (169) in second place. Only three points were missing on the title. A zero result in the summer was the tip of the scales here. Nevertheless, a strong season.

Tour de Vendee – a long working day for Stüssi, Thalmann and Co!

The Equipes Team Vorarlberg Santic and the Swiss Cycling Academy took the scepter after a good 100 kilometers and led the pace dictatorship. In the final phase, the breakaway group could be made. Without the fast Jannik Steimle, who is involved with Deceuninck Quick Step, the sprint was not at eye level. It wins after 199.5 kilometers of Frenchman Marc Sarreau (Groupama FDJ). Colin Stüssi is 14th, Roland Thalmann 21st Lukas Meiler 29th.

69th Paris – Bourges UCI 1.1 completes season!

Next Thursday is the last race of the season at Paris-Bourges. The 193.5-kilometer race, packed with numerous World Tour teams, is a worthy end to this successful 2019 season!

Another two hours of high tension, then the season of the ÖRV Radbundesliga 2019 history. Only in the tenth and last race on Saturday in Korneuburg for almost 80 kilometers, the winner of the team ranking will be determined. At the moment the Team Vorarlberg-Santic is in the lead with just under two points ahead of the Maloja Pushbikers from Graz. Defending this is more than difficult as we  have to travel with a “mini” team. However, Maximilian Kuen, Dominik Amann and Daniel Knapp will again be “all in”!
