11th GP Vorarlberg on May 1 powered by GLS Austria promises fight by hook or crook!
World-class field from 17 nations with numerous favorites at the home race of Team Vorarlberg!
The very large number of 179 professionals and elite riders have submitted the entry for the eleventh edition of the GP Vorarlberg in the market town of Nenzing.
Unique: For the first time riders from 17 nations are in the game! The circle of favorites for the coming Sunday is as broadly spread as never before. Some of the top teams include several contenders for victory. Team Vorarlberg will (have to) act from the defensive in the home race over 160 kilometers due to stricken riders and retirements.
It is guaranteed to be a cycling festival in Vorarlberg with a great supporting program for the youngsters and the spectators!
Team Vorarlberg a little more than an underdog!
The supposedly super strong squad of the home team has suffered some low blows in recent weeks. The three professionals Dominik Amann (Corona), Linus Stari (flu) and Roland Thalmann (arm fracture) are completely out. Daniel Ganahl joins the team after his ski mountaineering season, as well as Lukas Rüegg after his knee surgery.
Werner Salmen – Sports Director: “We will probably start the race with nine riders. Of these, some are coming straight here from a long break due to illness. In turn, the motivation for the race at home should compensate for some. However, the first contenders for victory come from four to six other teams. Spectators can look forward to super exciting, open racing this year!”
The selection of favorites from 22 teams and 15 individual riders from 17 nations:
Team Felbermayr Simplon Wels (Moran Vermeulen – AUT, Daniel Turek – CZE).

Executioner Röns? Classic, fast circuit for the cycling pros!
The pro cyclists will tackle the course of the last years again this year. It resembles a Belgian spring classic. After the start in Nenzing, the short but crisp climb from Schlins to Röns will be ridden. From Satteins it goes on to Frastanz and back via Beschling to Nenzing.
Facts: per round 17,8 km x 9 rounds = total distance 160,2 kilometers / 220 meters of altitude per round = total of 1980 meters of altitude
