A Travers les Hauts de France UCI 2.2 – Good results and a crazy final on last stage in France!
Good places and full attack from Team Vorarlberg Santic in France! Two classic races are waiting in Luxembourg and Germany!
“What an incredible last stage! Yesterday the guys put everything on one card – they either knew everything or nothing. Right at the beginning of a longer cobblestone road – and there the total attack of us. Federspiel reports defect – pity – but Kuen, the Meiler brothers and Steimle disassemble from here the whole field into pieces. Steimle, Kuen and eiler are in the first field up to 20 kilometers from the finish. Behind the pursuers came closer. Max Kuen puts everything back on a map and sets the attack – but he will be set 10 kilometers again.
Steimle wanted the stage win today and then? The entire field is misdirected just before the finish line. At the 200 meter mark, they are “put back” on the racetrack without knowing it – out of nowhere the finish line was there. The entire field was surprised. Thus, there was no final sprint – something unusual, but also this story writes the sport :-). The organizer has apologized for this mishap immediately!
Too bad, but today the guys have shown really great and great sport!”
Said a very satisfied Werner Salmen (sport director)
On the first stage, Jannik Steimle placed ninth in the sprint the main field. On the second stage, Jannik did not miss much on the podium. 20 centimeters were missing, but also fifth place was very good.
