Alexis Guerin wins the royal stage at the Sibiu Cycling Tour UCI 2.1
Sensational! Alexis Guerin wins the royal stage at the Sibiu Cycling Tour UCI 2.1 – Thalmann in eighth place!
Actually almost unbelievable! Alexis Guerin wins solo the king stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour on the Balea Lac (2031m) ahead of the World Tour pros Giovanni Aleotti (BORA-hansgrohe) and the multiple Grand Tour stage winner Fabio Aru (Qhubeka-NextHash)!
Early attack was key to success!
Guerin started this stage a good minute behind in the overall standings. His attack ten kilometers before the finish was thus allowed for the time being. But too late then the tempo sharpening of the chasers. The Team Vorarlberg professional saved eleven seconds advantage to the finish – a great success. In eighth place his team colleague Roland Thalmann with 29 seconds behind. In the overall standings, Guerin is now in seventh place. Thalmann remains one rank ahead in sixth place!
Great team performance!
The team presents itself broad and strong. A look at the overall team ranking after day three makes this clear. Team Vorarlberg should be in the lead in the team ranking (the result report is still pending – see link below) ahead of all World Tour and Pro Continental teams.
Tomorrow’s final stage over 205 kilometers will most likely be an affair for the sprinters. However, Filippo Fortin had to finish the race. The race ends very late, but we will report!
