BAAM! Lukas Meiler storms into the yellow jersey at the prologue of the 14th Int. Tour of Rhodes!

Lukas Meiler after prologue victory in the yellow jersey of the Int. Rhodes Tour UCI 2.2 – Guerin and Zoidl also in the front!

What a start to the Tour! In his eighth season in the service of the team, the “working bee” Lukas Meiler takes the big punch. The 27-year-old all-rounder from Germany sensationally wins the difficult prologue on Rhodes, and is thus the first professional in the yellow jersey of the 14th International Rhodes Tour!

Lukas Meiler: “I had a close look at the course beforehand and saw that it could suit me. Since I also come from Cycle Cross, the short, crisp prologues suit me especially. Today I let it all out and I’m really happy about my first UCI win in my career!”

Info on Lukas Meiler:

Awesome Team Vorarlberg performance with five riders in the top 20!

The prologue over 3.8 kilometers with an ascending profile in Ialyssos was tailor-made. That the Team Vorarlberg pros “perform” in this way was indeed desired. The more pleasing that they could show it today on the road also impressively. Behind the Cypriot Miltiadis (Team Java), as well as the Dane Bendixen (Team Coop), followed with Alexis Guerin (4th) and Riccardo Zoidl (5th) already the next Team Vorarlberg riders. Colin Stüssi (12th) and Mathias Reutimann (16th) completed the great start.

24.03. Prologue Ialyssos 3,8 Km

25.03. Rhodes – Kalamonas 138,5 Km

26.03. Rhodes – Afantou 153,5 Km

27.03. Rhodes – Maritsa 150,2 Km

Tomorrow it’s time for the stage hunt!

The first stage over almost 140 kilometers from Rhodes town to Kalamonas could be exciting and especially busy – the goal is of course to keep the “yellow” in the team. At mid-race it goes up from zero to 670 meters. Then undulating into the finish. Many have marked this in red in the roadbooks.
