Colin Stüssi stage fourth by the Tour Alsace!
Team Vorarlberg rocks the Tour Alsace UCI 2.2 on the fourth stage! Colin Stüssi stage fourth – Roland Thalmann third overall and leader mountain classification – Team Vorarlberg takes the lead in the team classification!
After the great performance of Team Vorarlberg at the Tour Alsace so far, today was big fight day. Average 48 Km/h in the first hour of the race. Colin Stüssi successfully occupied the first leading group. This should come through with the plan to decide the resulting team classification for himself. And this succeeded after a phenomenal overall performance of the team. Colin Stüssi finished the stage in fourth place. Winner Arthur Kluckers (NED/Team Leopard) ahead of Nicolas Debeaumarche (FRA/St. Michel Auber). But also all other daily goals were reached!
Werner Salmen – Sporting Director: “Today the guys rode almost everything into the ground. In the front Colin Stüssi secured a strong stage result with fourth place, thereby also taking the lead in the team classification. In the back of the peloton, everyone set off fireworks and almost drove leader Finlay Pickering (GBR/Groupama-FDJ-Devo) out of the jersey when Zoidl and Thalmann attacked. Still – today we achieved everything. Thalmann defends the mountains jersey and third place overall, Stüssi wins the combined jersey. And what makes everyone happy: Team Vorarlberg regains the lead in the team classification today. That was a hussar ride after the difficult day yesterday – we have to congratulate!”
Once again all for Roli Thalmann and the team!
Tomorrow, the 18th Tour Alsace concludes with the final stage. The 158 kilometers are mostly flat, but certainly something for escapees. The start in Mulhouse, the finish in Berrwiller. The plan: to bring everything to the finish that you have carried on your shoulders so far!
