Colin Stüssi with feat of strength on fourth place at third stage of Tour Alsace on the Planche des Belles Filles – Nikolas Riegler takes bronze at mountain state championships

Today’s queen stage from Vesoul to La Planche des Bellis Filles (132 km / 2800 HM) was not for the faint of heart. After only five kilometers Colin Stüssi loses the connection due to a skirmish in the peloton. He follows the leading group for 80 (!!) kilometers. In the last hour of the race, the Swiss rider is able to catch up and sensationally fights his way up to fourth place! An incredible feat of strength. What would have been possible here!

The winner is Briton Sebastian Berwick (Israel Premier Tech) ahead of Mathys Rondel (Tudor Cycling Team). Stüssi lost only one minute. In the overall standings, the same situation with fourth place. Oscar Cabedo is in 14th place.

Stage number three – it’s going to be a long day! Tomorrow’s very copied route from Tagolsheim to Altkirch will be a day for the escapees, but with 197 kilometers also super hard in the finale.

Austrian National Championships – Nikolas Riegler with third place in U23 classification

The small contingent with Moran Vermeulen, Antoine Berlin, Nikolas Riegler and Laurin Nenning showed a fighting spirit today in the 30 kilometer race from Wiesing to the Gramai Alm in Tyrol.  The result could have been better (eleventh and twelfth place of Vermeulen and Berlin), but still they consolidated second place in the Austria Cycling League. Nikolas Riegler continues his positive development with third place in the U23 classification.
