FOURTH PLACE FOR ALEXIS GUERIN IN THE 1ST STAGE OF THE SOUTH AEGEAN TOUR UCI 2.2!
Successful start to the season by Alexis Guerin with fourth place in the 1st stage of the South Aegean Tour UCI 2.2 on Rhodes!
At today’s first stage with start and finish in Koskinou over 172 varied kilometres, the Team Vorarlberg riders showed excellent form right at the start of the season and presented themselves as a strong team.
In sunshine and slightly cooler temperatures, the race was characterised by numerous attacks.
Strong team leadership helps Alexis Guerin to fourth place!
A few kilometres before the finish, a five-man leading group broke away from the rest of the field. Among them was Alexis Guerin.
The sprint of this group was won by Lukas Dreßler (Team Lotto – Kern Haus) ahead of Matteo Dal-cin (Toronto Hutle) and Jared Scott (Aevolo). The best Team Vorarlberg rider was Alexis Guerin in fourth place.
Thomas Kofler – Team Manager: “This year’s start into the 24th season with the team is somewhat different. The war in Ukraine with all the suffering is more than present and constantly on our minds. It makes you think a lot. Our thoughts are with the civilian population, because there are also numerous athletes who can no longer practise this sport due to these circumstances and who have completely different worries. All the more reason to consider it a privilege to be able to race here in Greece!
Stage 1 12.03. Koskinou – Koskinou 172,1 KM
Stage 2 13.03. Rhodes – Salakos 168,8 KM
Second stage will decide the overall classification in the last metres!
Tomorrow’s second stage for the victory of this short opening tour on Rhodes promises suspense until the end. The overall classification will most likely be decided on the last metres after the short climb in Salakos after 168 kilometres. Guerin, Thalmann and co. will be wide awake here.
