Great result at the Sibiu Cycling Tour UCI 2.1!
Guerin and Thalmann shine with sixth and seventh place overall – second place in the team classification!
As late as never before the finish 21 clock (20 clock CET) at a tour. The Sibiu Tour in Romania has found its conclusion today in the city of culture. The super long and hot (35 degrees) stage over 205 kilometers ended as expected in a bunch sprint. Pascal Ackermann, the German sprinter from the BORA-hansgrohe team wins sovereign.
Team Vorarlberg blasted the entire field with attacks in the last third to avoid this sprint decision. It didn’t quite work out. BUT the respect in the whole peloton after this tour was completely different than before the start of the tour, although it was not enough for the top ten in the sprint today!
Guerin and Thalmann on rank six and seven of the overall ranking – rank two in the team ranking!
This can be entered in the books as a significant success for the entire team. Because on the one hand this tour was filled with great teams, on the other hand the team clearly determined the race and can more than satisfied start the long journey home.
Guerin’s stage win yesterday stands out once again. Almost 100 UCI world ranking points are the reward for the hard work of the Vorarlberg pros. Lukas Meiler in particular deserves a special mention. 120% work for the team, without looking at his result. Chapeau to him and to the team!
