Incredible Team Vorarlberg! Alexis Guerin immortalizes himself with solo victory at La Toussuire – Roland Thalmann second overall in the Tour de Savoie Mont Blanc!
What a day! Alexis Guerin immortalizes himself with victory at La Toussuire – Roland Thalmann second overall in the Tour de Savoie Mont Blanc!
The best day of this season!
Today’s last section a “true mythical royal stage” with 4352 meters of altitude distributed over 124 kilometers. After the official start in St. Jean de Maurienne, three huge climbs awaited before heading up to the historic Col de La Toussuire (1691m)!
Werner Salmen, the sporting director, may be called “Fox” from today on. Equipped with clear tactics ALL team riders did their super job. They delivered Thalmann and Guerin ideally at the foot of La Toussuire. Guerin attacked and charged towards the finish. All the Colombians and Pro Continental riders from Team Androni-Giocattolli wore down. Guerin is in front, then Thalmann sets after and breaks up his group with a mini-chance to climb from three to two in the overall standings. In the end it should be enough for “Roli” by a few tenths of a second. Guerin wins the stage solo 26 seconds ahead of Cepeda (COL/Androni). Thalmann comes in third with 31 seconds.
Guerin at the finish of “his” mountain and dreams!
