Line-up for 2022 complete with three newcomers! Riccardo Zoidl with high ambitions into the west of Austria – Dynamic Swiss duo Lukas Rüegg and Matthias Reutimann complete Team Vorarlberg!
Nine riders have recently renewed their contracts for the upcoming 24th season of Team Vorarlberg. Three newcomers will now complete the team. As already announced a few weeks ago, the Austrian veteran Riccardo Zoidl (Upper Austria) will lace up his racing shoes for Team Vorarlberg in the future. With the two Swiss riders Matthias Reutimann and Lukas Rüegg, the team will get high-quality backup for the upcoming season. Lukas Rüegg was already part of the team in 2018.
Riccardo Zoidl (33/AUT):
From Team Felbermayr-Wels, the transfer has been fixed. As one of the most successful Austrian cyclists, Riccardo “Ricci” Zoidl can look back on many great successes, both nationally and internationally. With his experience from the World Tour, he enriches Team Vorarlberg both athletically and personally. Together with Alexis Guerin (FRA) and Roland Thalmann (SUI), there could be several options in various races.

Matthias Reutimann (27/SUI):
From neighboring Switzerland, Reutimann transfers to Vorarlberg from the Swiss Cycling Academy. The 27-year-old sees his strengths in being able to position the team well in important situations and wants to contribute significantly to its success with long escape attempts.
“I am looking forward to a race full calendar. I want to outgrow myself with an excellent team, then we will see what else is still possible,” said Reutimann.

Lukas Rüegg (25/SUI):
The likeable Swiss was already with Team Vorarlberg in 2018 and will start again in the Vorarlberg jersey after three seasons with Swiss Racing Academy. The 27-year-old showed strong performances in the 2021 season with fifth place in the Tour de la Mirabell and seventh place in the Tour de Bretagne Cycliste.
Rüegg: “It’s nice to be part of the team again. My ambition is to support the team to continue to be successful. Of course, it is also my goal to win a race myself. A broad-based squad and the team strength appeal to me and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.”

Sports director Werner Salmen: “A broader team means more individual responsibility!”
Werner Salmen: “With the new riders, the team is even better positioned across the board than last season. In return, the team has to take on even more responsibility. The leaders Thalmann and Guerin have stayed and with the addition of Zoidl, all three of whom have not yet reached their peak, there are more tactical possibilities in the mountainous races, especially in the tours. With the other newcomers and desired candidates Rüegg and Reutimann, the team will grow stronger, both personally and in terms of performance level, and can decide races on undulating profiles themselves.”
