Lukas Meiler excellent overall second at 14th Int. Tour of Rhodes UCI 2.2!
Alexis Guerin third, Riccardo Zoidl in fifth place – fireworks “almost” ignited on last stage!
On today’s last stage from Rhodes town to Martisa over 150 kilometers, Team Vorarlberg tried everything until the finish line. In the climbs the peloton was completely split. The current leader Lois Bendixen (DAN/Team Coop) was temporarily distanced by the pace dictated by Thalmann, Reutimann and Co. In the last kilometers the group around the leader came back to Meiler, Guerin and Zoidl. Bendixen thus wins the Tour ahead of Meiler and Guerin!
In the sprint of the small group Mika Heming (GER/ATT Investments) takes the victory. Alexis Guerin finishes eighth, Lukas Meiler tenth, Mathias Reutimann twelfth. Zoidl is 18th, Stüssi still 25th.
Résumé Werner Salmen – Sports Director: “We did everything right today – for 140 kilometers we left our mark on the race. One rider was stronger in the overall ranking and we have to congratulate him. Nevertheless, we can be super satisfied. Have trained in the good two weeks here valuable, very active and successful races and some UCI points can fix. Two riders on the podium in the overall standings with Lukas Meiler and Alexis Guerin. In addition, Riccardo Zoidl also top five and especially the team classification sovereign won. We now travel back home strengthened and as a real team!”

Austrian cycling league opening in Leonding – Youngsters Stari and Amann with great race!
Team Vorarlberg had to substitute three riders. Nikolas Riegler (sick), Lukas Rüegg (knee problems) and Daniel Ganahl, who is still engaged in the Ski Mountaineering World Cup. Nevertheless, the two young Vorarlbergers fought very vehemently against the superiority of the other teams. After a good 150 kilometers the victory goes to Daniel Turek (CZE/Team Felbermayr). Linus Stari is just behind in the sprint for third place today very good 16th. Dominik Amann also shows an active race and is 27th!
