Lukas Meiler provides for next big Team Vorarlberg appearance at the Tour of Slovenia UCI 2.Pro – RIP GINO MÄDER!

Lukas Meiler provides at third stage for next “Team Vorarlberg” day – RIP Gino Mäder!

It was a black day for the whole cycling sport! The tragic death of the young Swiss Gino Mäder (26) at the Tour de Suisse, caused great consternation and dismay at the Tour of Slovenia. The thoughts of all professional cyclists and teams are with the family of Gino and Team Bahrain-Victorios. RIP GINO!

In the shadow of this event, the Oberammergau team captain Lukas Meiler made a splash today on the third stage Grosuplie – Postoina 173.4 kilometers. He was like yesterday Moran Vermeulen, today in the leading group of the day, securing sprint and mountain classification points. Meiler now leads the overall mountain classification, tied on points with Viktor Potocki (CRO / Team Ljubljana-Gusto).

The sprint of the hard final is secured by Ide Schelling (BORA-Hansgrohe) from the Netherlands ahead of Luka Mezgec (Jayco-Alula) from Slovenia. Oscar Cabedo (29th) and Colin Stüssi finish with the first group.

Tomorrow it’s off to the mountains!

The fourth stage from Ljbuljana to Koharid will bring about a preliminary decision in the overall classification. Two long climbs await in the finale, just to the taste of Oscar Cabedo, Lukas Meiler and Colin Stüssi. The only necessity: good legs!
