Moran Vermeulen in seventh place in the second stage of the Fleche du Sud UCI 2.2!

Strong team performance of Team Vorarlberg at the 2nd stage of the 72nd Fleche du Sud UCI 2.2 – Seventh place for Moran Vermeulen!

 

The second stage with start and finish Bourscheid promised to be an exciting stage already in the run-up.

 

At the beginning of the race a small group with Antoine Berlin from Team Vorarlberg was able to break away from the peloton but was caught up again on the final laps.

 

On the last climb, the peloton attacked again and a 16-man group was able to break away from the peloton.

 

Moran Vermeulen finishes seventh in the sprint of the 16-man leading group!

The day’s victory goes to Denmark’s Mathias Bregnhøj (Leopard TOGT Pro Cycling) ahead of Slovenia’s Jaka Primožič (Hrinkow Advarics) and France’s Pim Ronhaar (Baloise – Trek Lions).

As the best Team Vorarlberg rider, Moran Vermeulen finished in seventh place, Oscar Cabedo (13th) and Antoine Berlin (15th). In the overall classification, Moran is in fourth place, nine seconds behind.

 

In the team classification, Team Vorarlberg leads by almost one minute over the second-placed team.

 

“That was the most difficult race of my professional career. The final laps were really hard” said Moran Vermeulen after the race.

 

Tomorrow’s third stage over 148 km with start and finish in Sanem.
