News from SKODA Tour de Luxembourg 2.Pro: Lukas Meiler with strong performance at 1st stage!

Lukas Meiler on the run with Tony Gallopin on the first stage of the ŠKODA Tour de Luxembourg 2nd Pro!

Perfect performance by Lukas Meiler and the Vorarlberg Santic team – 2nd place in the mountain classification!

Thanks to the young Oberammergau cyclist Lukas Meiler, the Vorarlberg Santic team was omnipresent on the first stage over 133 kilometers with start and finish in the state capital of Luxembourg. From kilometer eight, Meiler ran away with five professionals. Among them the French co-favorite Tony Gallopin (Ag2r).

But the World Tour teams around Mark Cavendish (Bahrain-McLaren), as well as John Degenkolb and Philippe Gilbert (Lotto-Soudal) pressed the throttle. Shortly before the goal, Meiler u. Co. give up after a tough fight!

After this great performance today, Meiler is now in second place in the overall mountain classification.

Diego Ulissi wins – Roland Thalmann the man for the overall classification – Stüssi unlucky!

In the mass sprint of the first group, the Italian Diego Ulissi (UAE Emirates) wins ahead of the Belgian Capiot (Sport Vlaanderen). Thalmann crosses the finish line at the same time as the winner.

Bad luck meanwhile for Colin Stüssi, who started this tour with great ambitions. The Swiss fell to the ground. He was able to finish the first stage but lost a lot of time. Stüssi will attack again tomorrow for stage successes!
