Filippo Fortin after hectic race on fifth place!

The 2021 season has started promisingly for the “Squadra” from Vorarlberg. In January, the national championship title (Federspiel) in cyclo-cross. In mid-February second place by Guerin at Ronde du Pays Basque, last Wednesday also second place by Filippo Fortin at the Umag Trophy.

At the 32nd edition of today’s Porec Trophy UCI 1.2 over 156 kilometers in sunshine but cold temperatures, 29 teams again heated themselves up properly. The Italian Pro Continental Team Bardiani brought five sprinters. Thus was again focused on the fast Team Vorarlberg sprinter Fortin. The leading group was put before the finish, also under the pace dictation of Guerin, Stüssi, Thalmann, Meiler and Riegler.

Two kilometers before the finish a crash. The peloton splinters apart, Fortin has a good “nose” again today and gets through. However, he was on his own in the final today – Guerin and Co. were involved in the crash, but otherwise came through unharmed. In the difficult, uphill sprint in Porec, Italian Filippo Fiorelli (Bardiani) wins ahead of Spaniard Enrique Sanz (Equipo Kern), and Tilen Finkst (Ljubljana). Filippo Fortin is the best Austrian Continental rider in fifth place!
