“Old Master” Visconti foiled next victory of Team Vorarlberg Santic!
Only Giovanni Visconti foiled Team Vorarlberg Santic victory in Frohnleiten by Colin Stüssi on ultra hard third stage of the 71st Int. Austria Tour UCI 2.1!
After Roland Thalmann had to end the tour due to severe stomach problems, the men around Tour Leader Jannik Steimle started the supposed royal stage from Kirchschlag to Frohnleiten (176 KM / 3752 meters altitude difference) decimated by personnel. There it played fireworks today! The World Tour teams Movistar, Dimension Data and Team CCC crushed the field step by step.
Team Captain Patrick Schelling can hold against!
At the last rough ascent to the Teichalm at 1250 meters there are only 13 riders at the top. Patrick Schelling was the only driver of a Continental team to be able to ride with the favourites. In the downhill, drivers keep rolling up.
Five Team Vorarlberg Santic riders in the first group!
In the final almost fifty riders will compete in the sprint – including five (!) riders from Team Vorarlberg Santic. Colin Stüssi sprints against a great backdrop to the brilliant second place – beaten only by “old master” Giovanni Visconti (ITA-Neri Sottoli Selle Italia). The next podium – simply incredible!
Jose Manuel Diaz Gallego finishes eleventh. Daniel Geismayr becomes (18.), Patrick Schelling (27.), Gordian Banzer (45.). As expected, Jannik Steimle handed over the jersey to the mountain fraction and today he did important team work like all Vorarlberg professionals!
Jonas Koch (CCC Team) leads ahead of Glockner stage – Colin Stüssi in sixth place overall!
The German Jonas Koch (today third) from Riccardo Zoidl’s team takes the lead in the overall standings before the stage up to Fuscherthörl. Colin Stüssi ranks sixth with a gap of eight seconds. Patrick Schelling is 13th at the same time as Zoidl!
No good news for breakfast – Roland Thalmann has to finish Ö-Tour!
The Swiss overall ninth of this year’s Tour of the Alps had to throw up several times during the night and complained of severe nausea and dizziness in the morning. With a heavy heart he decided to quit the tour. Too bad for him and the team – a trump card that you can play. Get well soon to the address of “Roli”!

The monument “Großglockner” is waiting!
After the morning transfer in the Arlberg Express Bus from Rene Hanisch in Styria to the starting point Radstadt, the program continues. The first mountain arrival of this tour leads over 103 kilometres and 3300 altitude metres over the Dientner Sattel up to the Fuscher Thörl am Großglockner. After today’s hammer stage, the “Glocknerkönig” at an altitude of 2500 metres will also have an important word to say about the overall victory!
