Perfect season start!
Team Vorarlberg professional Daniel Federspiel wins Austrian cyclo cross championships 2021!
What a great start into the 2021 season. Daniel Federspiel, the 33-year-old ex-world champion in MTB Eliminator, showed his whole class in the offroad terrain again yesterday. In a super exciting race in Neusiedl / Waidmannsfeld (Lower Austria) he becomes the nationals champion in the elite class and defends his title from the previous year.
“I knew that I could rely on my sprinting skills,” said Federspiel after the race, which developed into a three-way battle. His two contradictions, Moran Vermeulen (Felbermayr-Wels) and Gregor Raggl (Trek-Vaude), tried again and again to break away from Federspiel. On the flat, fast course around the football stadium in Waidmannsfeld, however, nobody was able to break away significantly.
“Right from the start I felt very good. However, I had contact with a tree on the first lap, so I lost my rhythm. The longer the race lasted, the better I got back in,” said Federspiel. Any corners before the finish he slipped off the pedal, which gave Raggl a small lead. But in the sprint for victory, Federspiel didn’t give Raggl a chance and was very happy about the victory!
