Team Vorarlberg fails to get off to a good start!
That cycling professionals are no „soft eggs“, was known. This was today at the Rad Bundesliga in Leonding (Upper Austria) also bitterly necessary. The race was shortened to 120 kilometers due to sub-zero temperatures (!!). At the start still dry, sets after a good racing hour also snowfall.
In the eleven-man leading group, among others, Maximilian Kuen as a lookout. At the back of the field Fortin, Thalmann and Co. take responsibility and control the race. However, Schinnagel (Virus) and Colin Stüssi (crash injury) had to be given up shortly before the start. Also Guerin and Moreno was sick at home.
Kuen gets some sprint and mountain points, but could not compete in the final. The Austrian Moran Vermeulen (Team Felbermayr Wels) wins ahead of the Germans Pirmin Benz (Rad net Rose) and Jonas Rapp (Hrinkow). Roland Thalmann came eighth as the best Team Vorarlberg rider.
It was not the desired result. Today, only the riders who can best cope with these extreme weather conditions were able to convince.
