Strong Prologue at 84. Volta Portugal – Lukas Meiler and Moran Vermeulen with Top Speed in Top Ten!
Lukas Meiler and Moran Vermeulen in top ten at prologue time trial of the 84th Volta a Portugal UCI 2.1 – Team Vorarlberg strong as a team
Today it started, the 84th Tour of Portugal. Team Vorarlberg in its best line-up at the start of this twelve-day tour, wanted to announce its ambitions right away at today’s prologue time trial (3.6 km) in Viseu.
And this worked also in the best way. Lukas Meiler raced to seventh place with an average of over 53 km/h, only five seconds slower than winner Rafael Reis (Team Glassdrive). Moran Vermeulen finished ninth, one second behind Meiler. Already in 14th place Jon Knolle. Lukas Rüegg is 20th and Colin Stüssi 27th.
In the team classification Team Vorarlberg takes second place.
Tomorrow the first stage from Anadia to Ourem over 188 kilometers. A sharpshooter for the men from the Alps the hot temperatures.
