Strong Team Vorarlberg Performance in Bulgaria: Alexis Guerin finishes “In the footsteps of the Romans UCI 2.2” as overall second – second place in team classification
Alexis Guerin finishes “In the footsteps of the Romans UCI 2.2” as overall second – Team Vorarlberg lacks one second for team victory
On today’s second and last stage from Banya to Razlog (137 km) of the short tour around the Bulgarian ski resort Bansko, Hungarian Karl Adam Kristof (Team Expronex) won in a mass sprint ahead of Domenico Cirlincione (ITA/Team Gallina Ecotek). Best Vorarlberg rider is Alexis Guerin in ninth place. Roland Thalmann finished 13th, Linus Stari 15th.
In the overall ranking Guerin is only five seconds short of the overall victory. The Frenchman finishes second behind Poland’s Maciej Paterski (Team Voster). Third the Hungarian Kristof (Team Expronex).
Werner Salmen – Sports Director: “We wanted to start the assault on the yellow jersey again today, but we lacked a bit of the longer climbs. The Polish teams neutralized all attacks. Nevertheless, we can be satisfied and travel back to Austria with numerous UCI points. The guys rode very well, although two riders were injured. They would have deserved the victory in the team classification, but the one second difference to Team Voster is on our side at the next race!”
Now it’s off home. The riders will fly home tomorrow via Sofia. The support crew around Werner Salmen, Hans Innerhofer, Ladi Demko and Johannes Kofler will chauffeur the team vehicles home from Bulgaria.
