Strong performance of Lukas Meiler at the 1st stage of the 12th Sibiu Cycling Tour UCI 2.1 – Daniel Ganahl sensationally becomes Austrian National Champion on the mountain!
The first stage today from Brezoi to Sibiu was a really “tough” affair. 206 kilometres with 3800 metres of altitude.
After a very hectic start of the stage, four riders broke away from the peloton and were able to gain a lead of up to 5 minutes. Among them was Lukas Meiler from Oberammergau.

Lukas was able to collect numerous mountain and sprint points during the stage. A few kilometres before the finish the escape group of the day was set.
The sprint of the day was won by the Italian Filippo Fiorelli (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè) ahead of his two compatriots Nicolas Dalla Valle (Giotto Victoria – Savini Due) and Andrea Piccolo (Drone Hopper – Androni Giocattoli).
In the overall classification, Lukas Meiler is in fourth place, two seconds behind.

The second stage ends with the mountain finish on Balea Lac after 179 kilometres at 2035 metres. One thing is certain: after the long, flat start, the best legs and good tactics will be decisive in the finale.

After a break of a few years, the professional cyclist from Montafon conquers the coveted champion’s jersey for Team Vorarlberg. He completed the six-kilometre course with an altitude difference of 560 metres in a time of 20:07 minutes.
With Linus Stari in fifth and Nikolas Riegler in ninth place, other riders from the Ländle equipe finished in the top ten.

Invited by former Team Vorarlberg pro Jannik Steimle now member of Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, the Young Guns showed a great performance.
After 60 laps through the old town of Kirchheim unter Teck, Jannik Steimle (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team) won ahead of Kim Alexander Heiduk (Ineos Grenadiers) and Marius Mayrhofer (Team DSM).
