Team Vorarlberg accompanied by cycling god on hectic start stage of Tour Alsace UCI 2.2
After the prologue in Sausheim, which ended late yesterday evening, in which the Vorarlberg team held its own in the midfield against the specialists, today the first stage over 166 kilometers with the finish in Selestat. The large field with 170 riders from 25 teams started in the world-famous Europa Park Rust. But the pros didn’t really feel like playing today.
Stüssi crash – Amann defect
The very fast stage with an average of over 43 km/h, was geared towards a sprint finish. But 15 kilometers before the finish Colin Stüssi falls and has to really invest to catch up again. Dominik Amann has a defect ten kilometers before the finish. The team brings him back as well. In the hectic sprint to the finish, they have saved their energy for tomorrow.
Nevertheless: all six riders around Stüssi, Cabedo and Meiler finish at the same time as winner Daniel Skerl ITA / Team ASD Friuli.
Tomorrow already the queen stage! In the finale, the historic climb to La Planche des Belles Filles, known from the Tour de France, awaits. On the 132 kilometers almost 3000 meters of altitude await.
