Team Vorarlberg dictates pace on first stage of Tour of Rhodes UCI 2.2!

Moran Vermeulen finishes 13th today – Lukas Meiler eighth overall – lead in team classification

After yesterday’s very unfortunate race cancellation at the prologue due to weather conditions, the 25 teams started the tour properly today. The stage plan was 139 kilometers from Rhodes town to Kalamonas.

“They rode splendidly today and really pulled on the horn. On the first mountain we hit such a fast pace that there were only 50 left. Unfortunately, the organizer took the second mountain out of the program. Colin Stüssi was in a leading group, but then he tried to escape alone. But without a chance. It ended as already suspected in the sprint. There we are inferior. The guys rode full throttle today, but more was not possible than to reduce the field!” Werner Salmen – Sports Director

Team Vorarlberg leads in team classification – Meiler Lukas in overall eighth place

Moran Vermeulen finishes 13th in the sprint today as the best Vorarlberg rider. Close behind Meiler (15th) and Stüssi (17th). Winner is the Dane Lindquist (Carl Ras).  In the individual classification Lukas Meiler is in eighth place. Team Vorarlberg leads the team classification.

Tomorrow follows the second section over 153.5 kilometers from Rhodes town to Afandou with a topography for attackers.
