Team Vorarlberg in attack mode on second and third place of the second stage of the Tour of Bulgaria UCI 2.2 – Roland Thalmann new man in hill climb jersey
The whole Team Vorarlberg has already given fire at the beginning of the stage. Thus, the teams were warned. Nevertheless, the competition on this day had to let Alexis Guerin and Roland Thalmann pull on the last long climb.
Only the strong Briton Paul Double (Team MG.K.) was able to follow the Vorarlberg duo on the short stage from Plovdiv to Troyan over 106 kilometers. The lead work was thus up to Guerin and Thalmann. In the sprint for the day’s victory, the Briton was faster, but with second and third place can be super happy. Especially since the starting position has now improved greatly in the fight for the overall standings.
Advancing in the overall standings
Guerin and Thalmann are now both in the top six, although the day’s result is still pending (see link below). Roland Thalmann also takes over the classification in the mountain classification.
Tomorrow there will be two half stages over 64 and 133 kilometers respectively – so a long day of work!
Squad: Linus Stari, Roland Thalmann, Colin Stüssi, Lukas Rüegg, Alexis Guerin, Lukas Meiler (DNF);
