521 kilometers – 12,378 meters in altitude – spread over four race days and five stages. These are the ingredients of the 41st edition of Le Tour de Savoie in the Mont Blanc massif in France. Without Roland Thalmann and Patrick Schelling, these are engaged with national team at the Tour de Suisse in the World Tour, the starting situation was a little different than last year. Today’s first stretch from Aix le Bains to Moutiers, at the foot of the ski resorts of Meribel, Tignes and Courchevel, over 145 kilometers and almost 2000 vertical meters was determined by a smaller top group ten kilometers from the finish.

The small slope 3000 meters before the finish was made for the “Vorarlberg” Equipe. There all six (!) riders stretched out in front of the raging field and shattered it in the fast final. In the sprint of the field the Frenchman Romain Hardy (Arkea Samsic) wins in front of the Belgian Jens Adams (Pauwels). Strong Daniel Geismayr. He is seventh in the technical heavy final. Colin Stüssi completes the good start with 12th place.

Patrick Schelling in the middle of the World Tour Stars – Rank nine at the first mountain finish of the Tour de Suisse!
The best of the world fought today on the first mountain arrival of the Tour de Suisse on the Flumserberg. Mitten underneath Team Vorarlberg Santic captain Patrick Schelling. The smart Swiss is sensationally ninth with just 46 seconds behind stage winner Tolhoek (Jumbo-Visma) – at the same time as Patrick Konrad (AUT-Bora hansgrohe / ex-team Vorarlberg rider). Second Egan Bernal (Team Ineos). In the overall standings Schelling is the best Swiss eleventh before the last three stages. Roland Thalmann are on 38 place with a good two minutes behind.
