Team Vorarlberg takes over first place in the team classification – great cinema at 12th Sibiu Cycling Tour – Thalmann, Zoidl and Guerin on par with World Tour teams – Meiler still in the mountain jersey!

It was a hard piece of work today from Sibiu up to the roof of the Tour (Balea Lac 2035 meters) after 179 kilometers. The Team Vorarlberg pros did a great job today. Roland Thalmann is seventh in the stage. Riccardo Zoidl follows in ninth place. Guerin is 21st, so the team from Vorarlberg takes the team lead ahead of Israel Premier Tech and all the World Tour and UCI Pro teams.

Werner Salmen – Sports Director: “Today the guys showed what is possible even against the world’s best teams. Colin Stüssi attacked at the beginning and so kept his team colleagues out of trouble. The leading group was set together with the big teams. In the final climb Thalmann, Zoidl and Guerin were able to keep up with the World Tour pros. The fact that we are now leading the team classification underlines this without comment and I can congratulate the whole team including the support staff. Tomorrow in the mountain time trial, either way, the only motto is “all in”!”

Today’s winner from the BORA-hansgrohe team the Italian Giovanni Aleotti ahead of Harm Vanhoucke (BEL/Lotto-Soudal). In the overall standings, these two riders lead. Roland Thalmann is eighth overall (+37 sec), Riccardo Zoidl is 13th (+1 min 12 sec). Lukas Meiler also successfully defended the mountain jersey today.
