Top! Jannik Steimle sprints to sixth place on the second stage of the Czech Cycling Tour UCI 2.1!
Colin Stüssi finishes 11th after a hard rain stage!
After the excellent start and fifth place in the team time trial last night in Ostrava, today the second stage from Olomouc to Fridek-Mystek over 186 kilometers. After the breakaways group was blown for mass sprint. Almost the whole day rain and thus a “hot” finale.
Steimle just passes the podium!
Six Team Vorarlberg Santic professionals come with the first big group to the last 3000 meters and can position Steimle very well. Steimle hesitates a bit too much in the hectic finale. However, he pushes up to sixth place in the sprint – only a short distance away on the podium.
Australian Shane Achbold (BORA-hansgrohe) wins ahead of South African Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Erik Baska (SVK / BORA-hansgrohe). Colin Stüssi ride also a good finale with place eleventh!
The overall ranking will be made tomorrow and sunday. Here Schelling, Thalmann and Co. want to attack again against the big names.
Tomorrow’s third stage will take us from Olomouc to Unicov (175 km).
