What a race! Norwegian winner from Jumbo-Visma Team at the 11th GP Vorarlberg powered by GLS Austria – Team Vorarlberg just misses the podium despite a strong race!

The great line-up gave the eleventh edition of the GP Vorarlberg powered by GLS Austria over 162 kilometers, a proper breath of fresh air. The 142 comprehensive field with starters from over 17 nations have given on the classic-like circuit in perfect weather really fire.

After a super exciting race the Norwegian Johan Staune-Mittet (Team Jumbo-Visma) crowned himself solo winner of the third race in the ÖRV Radbundesliga. In second place the Slovenian Matevz Govekar (Tirol KTM Cycling), third place goes to Daniel Turek (CZE – Team Felbermayr).

 Race history:

As the organizer of the race, you always have the hardest time with a home team. On the one hand the expectations are high, on the other hand you want to be active. As every year, the climb proved to be the yardstick. At the end of the “day”, the race average in the elite race was 42.4 km/h (2000 vertical meters). In a mega-fast race, Team Jumbo Visma in particular put its stamp on the race. The team from Vorarlberg held up non-stop, had to do an enormous amount of work today and put the escapees before the last lap. In the final, the team completely wore itself out. In the sprint for second place Alexis Guerin finished seventh, Riccardo Zoidl eleventh.

Thomas Kofler – Team Manager on the final and the race: „The huge crowd, perfect weather, the Käferle Cup with almost 200 kids and an exciting race until the final were a thank you to all helpers, partners and sponsors. Team Jumbo-Visma was unbeatable today. We tried everything, but the many riders who came back directly from the Corona break still need time. Nevertheless, they have fought super and that is the most important thing. The season is still young – and soon Team Vorarlberg will be back in front!”
